Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor on Wednesday said the Rafale fighter jets were the hero of Operation Sindoor and confirmed that the Indian Air Force is looking to induct more multi-role fighter aircraft.
He added that a final decision on the type of aircraft, whether Rafale or another model, is yet to be taken.Rafale was definitely the hero during Operation Sindoor. At the time, many were shocked and questioned why India was buying such expensive Rafales. After all, an F-35 costs around $350 million fully loaded with missiles, while a Rafale for India would run $300–310 million.Buying 114 Rafales at such a price, but how will spending $40 billion from a $90 billion budget hit indigenous programs like Tejas Mark 2, ATAGS, and other projects aimed at making India self-reliant and a future superpower?Now, you might think: maybe India is buying more than 114 jets, so the amount increased.
