India decides to file review petition against death sentence of Kulbhushan

According to the sources, the Indian government informed Pakistan about its decision to file review petition against the death sentence of Indian spy. It added that Kulbhushan Jadhav signed papers for filing his appeal.

The sources further said that the review petition will likely to be filed in the Islamabad High Court within a few days. Earlier on Monday, Pakistan provided second consular access to Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav on the Indian request. According to a press release issued by the Foreign Office, the first consular access under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations 1963 was earlier provided by Pakistan on September 2, 2019. The mother and wife of Commander Jadhav were also allowed to meet him on December 25, 2017.

Two consular officers of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad were provided unimpeded and uninterrupted consular access to Commander Jadhav. Commander Jadhav is in Pakistan’s custody following his arrest from Balochistan in a counter-intelligence operation on March 3, 2016. During the investigation, Commander Jadhav confessed to his involvement in terrorist activities inside Pakistan that resulted in loss of many precious human lives.Pakistan remains committed to fully implementing the International Court of Justice ’s judgment of July 17, 2019.
