CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has apologised for the inconvenience that will be caused by a 72-hour water supply shutdown which is set to affect 22 areas located on the Cape Flats.

Mayco member for water and sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, said that the operation would begin on Monday morning and end on Wednesday at midnight. "This will allow for the replacement of five valves in this particular network. This shutdown is a necessary one for us so that we can conduct crucial maintenance work in a safe manner along this very important section of our water supply network.""We're conducting this work over time to minimise the impact on residents as much as possible."

Badroodien said that the work would ensure the city’s pipe infrastructure was in a good condition for years to come.Directorate will undertake a 72-hour operation which will begin on Monday, 24 June, until Wednesday, 26 June to do essential maintenance to its water supply network on the Cape Flats.
