A 71-year-old man is accused of trying to 'lasso' an alligator in Cape Canaveral on Wednesday morning.

A 71-year-old man is accused of trying to "lasso" an alligator in Cape Canaveral on Wednesday morning. Robert Colin told the Brevard County Sheriff's Office that he intended to capture and remove an alligator in a canal near the intersection of West Central Boulevard and Oak Manor Drive, the affidavit stated.
The man reportedly used a white nylon rope to create a "noose-style loop", which Colin said he used to "lasso" the gator. The police said the rope was caught around the alligator's upper jaw. Colinthen tied the rope to a nearby handrail.When deputies arrived, Colin said he found the gator in its current state. However, following an investigation, video footage caught him in the act.
The sheriff's office said Colin is not a licensed trapper and does not possess the proper licensing or permits to legally remove the alligator from the canal.
