Over 70 pets, rescued from the devastating wildfires in Southern California, have been transported to North Texas, finding new hope and loving homes. Two planes carrying dogs and cats, previously housed in LA shelters overwhelmed by the disaster, landed at Meacham International Airport in Fort Worth, marking the start of a new chapter for these animals.
Over 70 pets were adopted from a group of 170 dogs and 14 cats rescued from fire-ravaged Southern California are now calling North Texas home. Two planes arrived Sunday at Meacham International Airport in Fort Worth carrying the animals that were already housed in LA shelters impacted by the wildfires. The transportation helped create space in LA shelters for future lost and injured pets.
The nonprofit Wings of Rescue and Los Angeles' Paws for Life K9 Rescue coordinated with the Humane Society of North Texas to meet the animals at the airport and take them to their destination. According to HSNT, while some arriving pets will be placed in local rescue facilities, most will be housed with temporary foster families across DFW until long-term homes can be found. The Humane Society of North Texas hosted an adoption event from Jan. 24-26 for the pets that were flown in. People were eager to help and came out to the event to help the pets find their forever homes, HSNT said in a statement on Saturday.Dogs and cats from Los Angeles-area shelters are evacuated to North Texas where they'll be placed in new homes
