Once the Entity reveals that it was manipulating Skye's reality the entire time, the whole movie suddenly comes into question. ✕ Remove Ads What this knowledge tells audiences is that the Entity may have a potential weakness when it comes to its victims. Rose and Skye were two people who were deeply wounded by their pasts, and perhaps had not totally come to terms with what happened to them. Yet, that raises the question of what might happen to the Entity if it tries to possess someone who has suffered no trauma, or has accepted the negatives in their life.
Although both Smile and Smile 2 ended in tragedy, the sequel got closer to revealing how the Entity can be stopped, and it seems unlikely that that is a coincidence.
