Police: Seven shot, one fatally, overnight in Austin neighborhood

Seven people were shot, one fatally, in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood around 1 a.m. Sunday, police said. A group was gathered outside in the 4800 block of West Iowa Street when an argument broke out, and unknown individuals started shooting, according to Chicago police.Police found a 25-year-old woman at the scene who was unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A 17-year-old girl was also shot in the leg. Police said she was transported to West Suburban Medical Center in good condition.A 27-year-old man shot in the leg was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition, according to police. A 29-year-old man had gunshot wounds in his chest and arm and was transported in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.
A second 29-year-old man was transported to Stroger in good condition after being shot in the arm, police said, and a 28-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her ear was transported to Stroger in good condition. A 28-year-old man, who was shot in the leg and arm, was transported to Stroger in good condition, police said.Check back for updates.
