Seven San Antonio police officers were injured in a shooting at a North Side apartment complex early Thursday morning. The incident began with reports of a suicide in progress at an apartment complex in the 18700 block of Stone Oak Parkway. When SAPD officers responded to the call, four officers were initially shot. Later, the number of injured officers rose to seven. All officers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of Thursday afternoon, six officers had been released from the hospital, and the seventh is expected to make a full recovery. The suspect in the shooting has been identified as 46-year-old Brandon Poulos. It remains unclear whether Poulos died by suicide or was killed by police and SWAT officers who responded to the scene. The shooting prompted an outpouring of support from local and state officials on social media. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, expressing his gratitude for the officers' service, urged the public to keep them in their prayers. Councilmember John Courage also conveyed his support, acknowledging the officers' courage and dedication in protecting the community.
