AT least seven cities within Metro Manila have started the dry run for the Single Ticketing System, said San Juan City Mayor Francisco Zamora, concurrent head of the Metro Manila Council (MMC).
These are Manila, Caloocan, Valenzuela City, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Quezon City and San Juan. The MMC is the policy making body of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority .The single ticketing system is the newest traffic scheme of the MMDA which synchronizes the existing national and local laws on traffic enforcement, as well as penalties and fines of the most common traffic violations under the Metro Manila Traffic Code.
'If you [flagged down motorist] choose to evade payment then the next time you are caught then the traffic enforcers input your data in the gadget and through that they will see that you have evaded a few weeks or few months then they can confiscate your license,' said Zamora in a television interview. He explained traffic violators with pending or long overdue fines will be barred by LTO for license renewal.
