The Kent village of Pluckley is the most haunted in the UK With Halloween less than two weeks away, the creepiest villages in Europe have been revealed. Three of the locations are in the UK, and one is less than two hours by car from London. So where should you head to if you want to do some ghost hunting this spooky season? Pluckley in Kent is number three on the European list – and takes the spooky top spot in the UK.
Spooky! Greystones is supposedly haunted by a monk who drifts amongst the trees, having died of a broken heart after the death of his lover. Fright Corner is home to the ghost of a highwayman who met his end by an oak tree. Witnesses have reported seeing his body slumped against a ghostly tree, pinned by a large sword through his chest. Screaming Wood is what it says on the tin – a forest infamous for mysterious loud, sudden screams. Even the birds are spooked by this one.
