A fire caused by a downed tree left an East Pennsboro Township home uninhabitable and seven people displaced. Emergency dispatchers said the fire was reported in the 500 block of Wertzville Road around 12:45 a.
m. Saturday. "A tree came down on primary electrical wires and sent high voltage through the cable/phone lines which caused the residential system to short out," said Erik Owen, the fire chief for East Pennsboro Township Fire Department.The house suffered significant damage to the entire electrical system, in addition to fire damage to the basement and outside of the home. The chief said seven people were inside at the time of the fire. Those residents are now getting help from the American Red Cross. "Township fire crews were already out on several incidents for the high wind and storm and responded quickly to assist the evacuation of the residents," Owen told CBS 21. "There were operational issues due to the primary electrical lines down and arching."Enola Fire Company Number 3 was the main responding agency on scene.
