Seven college students in Rhode Island were treated for apparent overdoses, according to authorities.
Police said officers and fire department units responded to a house on Liege Street late Friday night for a report of multiple unresponsive individuals. Providence police said seven people found unresponsive at a Liege Street home were treated with Narcan.
"Upon arrival, fire personnel initially dispatched for a double overdose found four individuals on the front lawn and subsequently treated three additional patients brought out of the residence, for a total of seven," police said in a release. The seven people, who were confirmed to be students at Providence College, were given Narcan and taken to hospitals, where police said they were "reported to be conscious and alert." Providence College released a statement from Steve Maurano, who is the associate vice president of Public Affairs, Community, and Government Relations. "The College is aware of the incident on Liege Street that happened last evening," he said. "First and foremost, we can confirm that all seven students who were treated are OK. We want to thank the City of Providence first responders on scene, as well college public safety officials, who administered lifesaving care to our students.
