The 64th Columbus Arts Festival opened Friday, transforming city streets into an expansive gallery featuring hundreds of artists. Veteran sculptor Dale Rodgers showcases large metal sculptures of cardinals, humans, and dogs, while visitors enjoy live music on four stages and browse unique artworks ranging from jewelry to wall pieces. The event highlights the vibrant community spirit and creative energy of Columbus's arts scene.
The 64th Annual Columbus Arts Festival kicked off Friday morning. Hundreds of local and national artists are lining the streets, turning the entire area into a massive art gallery.
For seasoned artists like Dale Rodgers, the Columbus Arts Festival is one he prepares for all year long.
“It’s got such positive energy and the artist’s caliber. When you get to the show and walk around, you are going to see it's museum quality and it's up and emerging artists,” said Rodgers. Piece by piece and metal by metal, Rodgers spends his time creating giant sculptures shaped like cardinals, humans and dogs.
“It's one of the most fulfilling careers you can have. When people get out and make things, it's really beneficial for the soul. I think that is overlooked so often,” said Rodgers. Festivalgoers are strolling through the streets, listening to music at four live stages and looking for some new finds.
“Jewelry is beautiful, but I love the art pieces that I can hang on my walls and see every day,” said Heather Rieferspe, a Grove City resident.
