60-year-old cold case involving a decapitated man in Fort Bend County reopened, remains exhumed

A Harris County judge has ruled that Dremone Francis, 26, will remain in jail without bond until a proof evident hearing is held.

The victim was found in a ditch off FM 359 in 1964. His hands and legs had also been amputated.The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Team exhumed the remains of a 1964 murder victim citing advances in forensic biology and DNA analysis.The dark-haired white male was around 50 years old. He was approximately 6 feet tall and weighed about 185 pounds. He'd been decapitated and his hands and legs were amputated. The victim also had a broken rib but no other identifying marks.

Four decades after the burial, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Team exhumed the remains citing advances in forensic biology and forensic DNA analysis.
