Six San Antonio chefs will represent San Antonio across the globe over the next two years as UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy chef ambassadors.
Chefs Leo Davila, Sofia Tejada, Jaime Gonzalez, Uyen Pham, Juan Carlos Bazán and John Tamez have been named UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy chef ambassadors.The latest batch of area culinary professionals selected to represent the city as UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy chef ambassadors has been named. The chefs will serve a two-year term sharing the diverse culinary and cultural traditions of San Antonio's foodways both abroad and here at home.
The new group of participating chefs come from a wide range of professional backgrounds and cuisine styles. The chef ambassadors include:Uyen Pham, instructor with The Culinary Institute of America's San Antonio campusJaime Gonzalez, executive chef at Pearl restaurant CarriquiJohn Tamez, culinary instructor at Brackenridge High School
The chefs were selected by members of San Antonio's UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy Advisory Group and City of San Antonio employees including La Gloria owner Johnny Hernandez, Frank Salinas of St. Philip’s College, Pharm Table owner Elizabeth Johnson and World Heritage Office director Colleen Swain, among others.
