A grandmother has made Team USA after qualifying at the Olympic trials on Saturday.

Michelle Rohl started as a distance runner and later transitioned into a competitive racewalker. And she is one of the best in the world.
Rohl competed for Team USA in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic games. Then she retired from the sport to homeschool her five kids, according to She is now 58 years old and her first grandchild was born three months ago. But on June 29, Rohl finished the 12.4-mile race in an hour and 42 minutes. That time earned her third place overall and a spot in the Paris Olympics, according toPeople reported that she still trains every single day and a total of 45 miles each week at an 8-minute-per-mile pace.
"I've never known anyone who is as mentally tough as her," said Rohl's husband to The Morning Call. “She likes to run, she likes to compete, and it’s a lifestyle for both of us. It makes her happy, and I’m just happy to be along for the ride.”event at the Paris Olympics will be on August 1, the Olympic website has said the schedule is subject to change
