The female juvenile great white named Penny 'pinged' off Ocean City on Monday morning.
Penny’s tracker “pinged” at 6:48 a.m., according to, a non-profit marine group that tags and monitors the movement of sharks in the world’s oceans.
A juvenile female great white shark, Penny was 10 feet, 3 inches long when she began being tracked last month. A shark’s tracker “pings” when it breaks the surface of the water. Before Monday, Penny last pinged on April 24 off Ocracoke, North Carolina. She was tagged a day earlier in Ocracoke.
