5000 Fall 2025 ready to wear runway, fashion show & collection review. The collection brought a streetwear aesthetic to classic men's suits.
5000 designer Taylor Thompson continued his affinity for bringing modern elements to classic suiting for fall 2025, taking inspiration from the Bay Area slang term “bootsy” for the collection. “It very much was this conversation of calling something lame or whack,” he said about the term.
“So, for me, it was this idea of intellectualizing that and putting it into a different space and treating ‘bootsy’ as a social study. It just felt like the same kind of reference as camp, like the things that are so bad that they’re good, so that was the overall theory of it all. It was a lot of wanting to keep the Bay Area and Oakland native and storytelling about home to some degree and just highlighting the culture of the Bay Area.” The inspiration came through Thompson’s streetwear-meets-classic suiting aesthetic. The collection offered inventive takes on suiting, like pleated skirts paired with classic suit jackets, acid wash suits created in a crinkled fabric and several oversize, boxy silhouettes. The pieces were a fresh take on classic menswear and showed Thompson’s ability to take the traditional aesthetic and push it into new realms. He also balanced some of the more masculine looks with feminine styles, like silky tuxedo shirts worn backward, pinstripe maxiskirts and draped tuxedo jackets with cut-off sleeves. The styles showed how Thompson can successfully apply his design codes to womenswear and how it ties in with his overall aesthetic.
