American actress Ellen Burstyn and Swedish actor Max von Sydow on the set of The Exorcist, based on the novel by William Peter Blatty and directed by William Friedkin.Spoilers, I guess, for The Exorcist. But honestly, it's been fifty years, where have you been?

Also, it's impossible to write this without giving massive props to British film critic Mark Kermode, who literally wrote the book on the film, and is almost unquestionably the biggest Exorcist fan on the planet. I wish I could say that all these insights were mine and mine alone, but I've heard the good Dr Kermode talk and write about the film so much that my views of the film are undoubtedly refracted through his own.
