THE 50 Filipinos who were evacuated to Aswan City, Egypt are expected to fly back to the country this weekend, Foreign Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega said on Friday.

The 50 Filipinos are comprised of 49 students and one overseas Filipino worker.'We will provide commercial flights for them from Cairo to Manila,' de Vega said in a public briefing on Friday.He said that the other 350 Filipinos who are still on the Egypt-Sudan border are also expected to fly home next week.'Hopefully, within this weekend, these 350 will be evacuated completely to Aswan, Egypt,' he added.

Meanwhile, two buses carrying more than 100 Filipinos are expected to leave Khartoum, Sudan for the Sudan-Egypt border on Friday at 3 p.m. .As of the last count, 409 Filipinos have already been evacuated and are now in safe zones.'We'll have a little more than 500 total evacuees once these last two buses leave Khartoum today,' de Vega said.DFA said there are 740 registered Filipinos in Sudan.
