A runner from England made a stop in Utah as part of an ambitious journey across the U.S. He's taking on 50 marathons in 50 states, all to raise awareness for children battling cancer.
SALT LAKE CITY – A runner from England made a stop in Utah as part of an ambitious journey across the United States. From the north of England to the streets of Salt Lake City, 23-year-old Henry Moores is running his way across the country one marathon at a time.
The challenge is as demanding as it sounds, covering thousands of miles in under two months, with little time to recover between races.
"The first few days were hell, I had problems with my knees, and to be honest with it, I didn't train for it at all. So I always come into the attitude of just being me. I'm trying to be relatable. Anyone can go and do it," Moores said.
"The first few days caught me off guard, really, really badly. I mean, these were in pain, I was tired, everyone was hurting.
""Along the way I was raising awareness for a charity back home, a young children's cancer charity," Moores said. "They also provide support for the family and all around a great charity. " Backed by friends and sharing the journey online, Moores has gained a following of supporters tracking every step. When Moores was in Utah, he was just past the halfway point and as the finish line approached, the mission remained the same.
"Yeah, it feels quite sudden because it's like we're counting down to the end," Moores said. "I'm going to try and make every day count until the end.
