5-year-old reportedly drowns in residential pool in Clay County, police report

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported a that 5-year-old drowned near the 200 block of Hilltop Dr. Tuesday evening.

ActionNewsJax.com News StaffCLAY COUNTY, Fla. — According to the CCSO, the child was being babysat at a person’s house when the incident occurred. The child somehow managed to get into the pool unattended and tragically drowned. Reports suggest that the child was unattended for approximately 10 minutes.

Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a drowning. The Clay County Fire Rescue tweeted at around 7:50 p.m. that crews were responding to the incident. The CCSO is currently investigating the incident and has not released any further information at this time. The identity of the child has not yet been disclosed.Crews are responding to the scene of a reported drowning near the 200 block of HILLTOP DR.
