First, it’s important to remember you’re there to be an ally—not to lead the charge, not to play out some revolutionary fantasy, andto incite agitation, destruction, or violence.
Which means: Because Black people are at greater risk of police violence than a white person, we as white people can use our bodies as shields to stand between police and Black protestors. It is also imperative that we help de-escalate when we see other white people damaging property, starting fires, or provoking the police.
