Boys basketball took center stage for 11 hours, 34 minutes Dec. 17 at Nationwide Arena.

1. An early tipoff did not hold back Olentangy Orange.

“We had a quick turnaround, but were on a real tough turnaround,” said Orange coach Anthony Calo, whose team improved to 7-0. “We were short early , but so was everyone.” “Our team has to collectively learn to get better,” Krueger said. “This kind of battle will pay off for us down the line. The guys who are a part of this for the first time or are in bigger roles than they were, it’s a growing process. We just have to continue to work.”Nubians coach Michael Bates concentrated much less on the outcome of a 68-60 loss to Cleveland St.

“They were phenomenal … and as long as they continue to get better, we get better,” Bates said. “I thought I saw some of our younger guys get better . Our depth is developing. We’re a little bit deeper than I thought we were. This is just a lesson, because we get to see on film how we played in a major arena. We gave ourselves an opportunity to showcase ourselves.”With a game beckoning Dec. 18 at Lima Senior, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary did not bask in a 67-61 win over Sierra Canyon.

“Our one goal is to win a state championship. I don’t care anything about this game,” he said. “It’s just our goal, our vision. We had this game tonight, we have another one tomorrow. We just have to perform.”
