This weekend, Puccini’s operatic masterpiece gets a unique staging at the Boston Lyric Opera. A co-production with the Detroit Opera and Spoleto Festival, USA, the BLO presents the opera in reverse order, from finish to start. This version of “La bohème” opens with a death in Paris in 1850 and goes back in time to when a romance is sparked between Rodolfo and Mimì.
This free event in Salem offers live art, food and beer on the lawn of the Salem Maritime Historic Site. Enjoy music from rhythm and blues band HDRnB, rock group Acoustic Murder, soul and blues from the Erinn Brown Band and vocalist Christine Baze. Hoop dancers Siren of the Circle, the Gatto Belly Dance Troupe and the Salem Shimmy Mob will perform, and there will also be live painting to observe throughout the day.
