Plus, a dumpling wrapping class and A Far Cry's valentine to Boston.

February brings the celebration of two holidays, Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year. This weekend, you can think of the love in your life — in whatever form — by attending a humorous Galentine’s Day performance at Improv Asylum or watching an emotional and moving concert.

Lunar New Year falls on Feb. 17 this year, and there’s no better way to kick off the celebrations than by joining a dumpling wrapping party. These events and more, below. For those looking to laugh and spend time with friends this weekend, the Improv Asylum is hosting a one-night-only Galentine’s Day performance. The improv and sketch comedy theater is bringing together its Main Stage, NXT and Hen House casts to showcase acts directed by and spotlighting women. The female-forward evening presents humorous programs at 7 and 9:30 p.m. General admission tickets cost $39. The following day, Improv Asylum will offer a, has envisioned a show that she will also star in: “catch_release.” Inspired by the Andrew Wyeth painting “Pentecost,” the performance will unite collaborators from different art forms, using pole dance, set design and sound to connect perceived reality with surrealistic dreams. Moon will be joined by performers Jesseca Scott, Aggie Ng and Toni Walker, and accompanied by musician Jimmy Lim, with set designer Jaina Cipriano, immersive programmer Kelly Tan and producer Eliza Malecki also on her team. The work will grace the venue Garage B in Brighton at 7:30 p.m., and drinks and snacks will be offered by The Koji Club. General admission tickets cost $30.The late Hollywood icon Marlene Dietrich has never been more alive than at this show at the Museum of Science. Staged at the Charles Hayden Planetarium, this “glittering, urgent celebration of resistance” is part cabaret, part theater piece and part immersive dome production. The one-woman performance stars writer and actor Tjaša Ferme and is directed by Ana Margineanu and arrives in Boston for the first time after a great showing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Audiences joining Ferme turn into the Allied soldiers that Dietrich enthralled during World War II, and the show embraces the legend’s gender fluidity and defiance of convention. Both shows are at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $25. To kick off the Year of the Horse, the Loring Greenough House in Jamaica Plain will host a dumpling wrapping party. A local Chinese chef will guide guests through the process of preparing two kinds of dumplings from Northern China, with meat, vegetarian and vegan options available. At the family-friendly event, participants learn to mix and roll out dough, assemble filling, cook the completed dumplings and, of course, eat their creations. New Year-themed games will be played in the dining room, making for a festive celebration. Three time slots for the cooking class are offered: 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. General admission tickets cost $49.87.Conductorless chamber orchestra A Far Cry has an immersive program in store. “Heart Strings: A Far Cry’s Valentine to Boston” pays tribute to “love in all its forms — devotional, romantic, maternal and even a little messy.” Listen to music from Bach, Tchaikovsky, contemporary composer Valerie Coleman and more, while hearing live poetic responses from Puerto Rican writer Anthony Febo. The stage will be decorated with flower sculpture installations from French American painter and installation artist Christine Arveil, and a chocolate and wine reception and optional facilitated conversation will follow the performance. Held at NEC’s Jordan Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $30.
