At least five U.S. Secret Service officials involved in the planning of former President Donald Trump’s ill-fated July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, have been placed on administrative duty.
The Secret Service officials are still allowed to work, but they are prohibited from being involved in anything operational, such as security planning, the sources added. A Secret Service official told the outlet that more senior officials could get caught up in the probe. “We are examining the processes, procedures and factors that led to this operational failure,” the Secret Service said.in response to the July 13 assassination attempt against President Trump, which resulted in the death of former fire chief Corey Comperatore and two other rallygoers, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, becoming severely injured.
