Pharrell Williams' auction platform, Joopiter, hosts its first watch dedicated sale with timepieces from Richard Mille, Rolex, and more.

The Wind Up: Christie’s Remi Guillemin on the Market, Elizabeth Taylor’s Franck Muller, and His Wildest Bidding War‘ auction platform Joopiter is an alternative auction space to the stuffy environs of the establishment.

It’s hipper, younger point of view aims to target an entirely new crop of collectors. And while it has auctioned serious pieces from, is its first auction dedicated solely to timepieces. On now through July 29th, the platform will offer 28 watches including everything from a limited-edition Richard Mille watch in partnership with Paris Saint Germain to a very rare opportunity to snag a Patek Philippe grand complication. The selection is an interesting mix of classics, high horology, quirky pieces from independents to design-forward timepieces. It’s a fun curation that is at once serious and playfully cool. The company worked with well-known industry experts on the offering, suggesting the platform may intends to be a player in the watch market.Richard Mille has always been closely linked to sports, even collaborating on the design of its watches with major athletes like Rafael Nadal. This rare limited-edition, however, is linked to an entire team. Created in partnership with Paris Saint-Germain, one of the world’s most iconic soccer clubs. The time-only watch is outfitted with the teams blue, white, and red colors right down to its snfazzy strap. But beneath the exterior bravado is a movement worth bragging about. The RM030 collection features an innovative patented declutchable rotor system, diconnecting when the power reserve hits 50 and re-engaging at 40 helping to maintain the balace of constant torque and power for better chronometry. As for this particular model, only 100 were ever made and given the fervor of Paris Saint-Germain fans, seeing one outside of its owner’s clutch doesn’t come along too often.Funky watches outside of the usual suspects are picking up steam in collectors circles and this Audemars Piguet Bamboo “Black Diamond” is a perfect example of that swing towards stylistically-forward pieces. Its bracelet and case are made from solid 18-karat white gold in the shape of the plant for which it’s named. The precious metal is said to be rare for this particular type of AP and it comes with an ultra-cool dial set with 112 diamonds in a graphic patternm thanks to its cross-hatch setting. This is one for smaller wrists at 27 mm wide and 33 mm in height and its movement is quartz, but with a current bid of $13,000, not only will it cost you less than a Royal Oak, but it will arguably stand out a lot more than the brand’s most pervasive model. The Rolex Day-Date has become exceedingly popular in recent years and this 36 mm 18-karat yellow gold Ref. 18248 is definitely one of the coolest we’ve seen recently. Many collectors are after the hardstone dial versions and this one comes in ferrite, a ceramic alloy with a metallic textured quality that gives it unsual appeal. Adding to the textural aesthetic is a bark finish on the bezel and center links. It’s no secret that the Rolex Day-Date has become incredibly popular in recent years. Finding one with a solid lapis lazuli dial though, is wildly rare. Factor in that this ref. 18366 comes in platinum and has a bezel set with baguette-cut diamonds and you have yourself one of the coolest Day-Dates in any room. One of the more grandiose high horology pieces of the lineup, this Patek Philippe Ref. 6104R-001 takes the mechanics of the Swiss watchmaker’s Star Calbre 2000 pocket watch—including a rotating celestial chart, lunar phases and orbit, and the meridian passage of Sirius and the Moon—and miniaturizes them for the wrist. Three discs beautifully depict the night sky as seen from Geneva: the first metallic black disc represents the sky, the scone indicates the phases and orbit of the moon, and the third depicts the stars and Sirius. This piece is the sole diamond-set version in Patek Philippe’s current collection and it comes with its full set of accessories. Typically, in order to buy a grand complication such as this at Patek Philippe, you would need to go through an application process that would involve serious buying history and an impressive resume on top of it. Once you jumped through that hoop, this watch would cost you $506,424 retail. Currently, as of press time, the reserve has not been met meaning this could be a rare opportunity to get a major piece of Patek horology at the low estimate of $300,000.
