5-alarm blaze rips through row of stores on West New York business strip
A five-alarm fire ravaged a row of businesses on Bergenline Avenue in West New York early Wednesday morning, and now a three-alarm blaze has been reported at 10th Street and Bergenline in Union City.
The blaze is reported to have started at a business on the commercial strip between 61st and 62nd streets. Smoke could be seen for miles. It was first reported at approximately 4:30 a.m. News12 reported that 15 families have been displaced. Firefighters from multiple neighboring municipalities have joined North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue at the scene.
Some of the mutual aid has been dispatched to the Union City blaze. Much like the section of Bergenline to the north, the fire scene in Union City includes a number of connected stores with apartments above.
