Purdy tore his ulnar collateral ligament on a hit from Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick in the NFC title game Jan. 29. UCL injuries are much more common among baseball pitchers than quarterbacks.in Bay Area sports over the past few months that this barely registers. But it is major, major news for the 49ers and Purdy.
