San Francisco 49ers rout Green Bay Packers, reach Super Bowl for seventh time in team history
SANTA CLARA, Calif .— Richard Sherman dove for the ball, rolled over to regain his footing, then splayed back out on the field with the interception in his hand to seal the result.
The 49ers, after a 37-20 win over the Packers, return to their first Super Bowl since the 2012 season and seventh appearance in franchise history. They’ll travel to Miami in hope of the franchise’s sixth Lombardi Trophy, and first since the 1994 season. With them, they’ll bring the smothering defense and old-school, run-heavy game plan that outlasted Green Bay on Sunday.
Raheem Mostert ran for a franchise-record 220 yards and four touchdowns and was the star of the show.
