MINNEAPOLIS — Trey Lance and almost all other front-line 49ers will skip tonight’s preseason visit to the Vikings, thus sticking to coach Kyle Shanahan’s plan that couldn’t be swayed to sentimentally play the Minnesota-native Lance in his homecoming.
is expected to start and be relieved by Brock Purdy, the only other 49ers’ quarterback in attendance. Jimmy Garoppolo did not make this week’s trip as he awaits a trade or release before the season starts.
