The San Francisco 49ers are planning to hire former Carolina Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks to be their next defensive coordinator, replacing DeMeco Ryans.
When Rhule was fired after a 1-4 start, Wilks took over the team on an interim basis, going 6-6 as head coach and putting theInterim head coach Steve Wilks of the Carolina Panthers during warmups before a game against the Detroit Lions at Bank of America Stadium Dec. 24, 2022, in Charlotte, N.C.
"We are shocked and disturbed that after the incredible job Coach Wilks did as the interim coach, including bringing the team back into Playoff contention and garnering the support of the players and fans, that he was passed over for the Head Coach position by [CEO] David Tepper," Wigdor LLP said in a statement obtained Fox News Digital.
