Defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche’s three-week tenure with the 49ers is over before joint practices begin at the Minnesota Vikings.
MINNEAPOLIS — Alas, the 49ers’ defensive line depth can only go so deep.
Nkemdiche had been a very active and boisterous addition to the talent-rich defensive line since getting signed the first day of training camp, on July 26. The 49ers’ defensive line is well-stocked, including on the interior, where Arik Armstead is recovering well from his June 27 knee sprain and where fellow starter Javon Kinlaw is impressing in his comeback from last season’s knee surgery. Kevin Givens has seen action in their place on the first string, and other defensive tackles include Akeem Spence, Hassan Ridgeway and Kevin Atkins.
