The San Francisco 49ers are a potential team to watch as a possible trade suitor for a $33 million playmaker.
Through the first five weeks of the 2025 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers have found a way to go 4-1. Despite the injuries they have already faced, the team has been able to stick together and find a way to keep winning.
Among the injuries so far this season have been quarterback Brock Purdy, tight end George Kittle, and star defensive end Nick Bosa. Being able to overcome all of those injuries to have a 4-1 record is impressive, to say the least. With that being said, there are also some clear needs that the team will need to address if they want to continue winning for the rest of the season. However, the 49ers could also more help at the wide receiver position. As the trade deadline draws closer, it would not be shocking to see John Lynch look into the wideout market. Kyle Shanahan of the San Francisco 49ers stands on the sidelines prior to an NFL football game against the Arizona Cardinals at Levi’s Stadium on September 21, 2025 in Santa Clara, California. Should San Francisco actually look to acquire a wide receiver, there is one name to keep an extremely close eye on. That name is none other than Las Vegas Raiders wideout Jakobi Meyers. Meyers requested a trade from the Raiders before the start of the regular season. At that point in time, Las Vegas had no interest in trading him. Now that the team is struggling and Meyers hasn’t been playing a huge role within the offense, could the Raiders change their mind? In the first five games of the year, Meyers has caught 25 passes for 290 yards. He has yet to find the end zone. Last season with Las Vegas, Meyers had a big year. He racked up 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns. Being able to produce those numbers with the lack of offensive ability the Raiders showcased was impressive. He’s capable of playing at the level of a borderline No. 1 wide receiver. When Brandon Aiyuk returns to the field for the 49ers, Meyers would be a perfect No. 2 option. It’s just an idea at this point in time, but it’s one that would make a lot of sense for San Francisco. Depending on the price tag that Las Vegas would place on Meyers, the 49ers should seriously consider pursuing a deal for him.
