Officers were called to Amity Street in Elizabeth over the weekend for a report of an 'unwanted individual' at a home there, officials said.
A 42-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday by an Elizabeth Police officer at a house in the city, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office announced Tuesday.
When officers arrived, they encountered Estiben Alegria-Hurtado, of Elizabeth. Within one minute of arriving, Elizabeth Police Officer Steven Lazo fired his gun and shot Alegria-Hurtado, investigators said.
