The 40th Cleveland Challenge Cup of Bocce was held last weekend at the Wickliffe Italian-American Club.

WICKLIFFE, Ohio ― The 40th Cleveland Challenge Cup of Bocce, sponsored by Serpentini Chevrolet, took place last weekend at the Wickliffe Italian-American Club. The event brought 120 teams to Northeast Ohio to compete for more than $25,000 in prize money.

The teams featured world class players from across the United States and Canada, including Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Florida and California. They totaled 104 open division teams and 16 women’s division teams. On Sunday, 3 Men & a Puppy, a local team with one member from Pittsburgh, won the open division for their their first event championship. The team consisted of Mike Trivisonno, Rino Rosati, Doug Carter and Ron Reheer. They defeated Big Shot Bob’s, with members from Youngstown and Koppel, Pennsylvania, in the finals, 16-11. BSB’s team consisted of Matt Taylor, Robert Stuart, Dante Delisio and Anthony Copogreco.

In the women’s division, Dirty 30, from Warren, repeated as champion. The team consisted of Denise Romanchek, Tina Hogue, Leslie Readman and Jolene Marcello. They defeated Crane Memorial, from Middletown, in the final, 16-10. Crane Memorial consisted of Renee Abbattista, Amy Burnett, Maren Abbattista, Sue Stanley and Teresa Romeo.
