Two people avoided injury after a fire ignited aboard a 40-foot pleasure craft in the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro on Thursday, March 4, with the boat later sinking after the flames were extinguished, authorities said.
Around 1:40 p.m., the docked boat caught fire near Berth 42 while a man and a woman were aboard, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Nicholas Prange. The two people were able to get off the ship and onto the dock without serious injuries., though extensive damage to the vessel left it unsalvageable and the vessel began to sink shortly after, Prange said.
