'My sister once asked a rather dim girl at our high school if she had had a lobotomy. The girl responded, 'No, I can still have kids.'”

I'm a Senior Staff Writer who writes a wide range of topics, spanning from people's real-life drama to pop culture to funny things I find on the internet."In high school, during one of our science classes, our teacher was explaining how eating microwavable foods would increase the risk of getting cancer because of the preservatives and chemicals in the food.

A student asked, 'Is that why you cover the food when you microwave it? So it doesn't get exposed to those preservatives and cancer-causing chemicals?' Our teacher looked baffled before explaining, 'No, you cover the food before putting it in the microwave so it doesn't spill everywhere and make a mess.'""I went on a school trip to Washington, DC, where we were touring the US Capitol. The tour guide asked us where we were from, and we answered, 'Idaho.' His response was, 'Oh, what state is that in?'" "Back in the '00s when we were in high school and Fruit Loops cereal had commercials all the time, my best friend and I got into a protracted argument about whether the Froot Loops mascot, Toucan Sam, was a parrot or a cockatiel. We ended up calling my mom, who said, 'Toucan Sam is a f**king toucan!'""A 16-year-old volleyball player asked me, when viewing a trophy case featuring a man who died serving his country in 1944, 'Coach, you mean he died serving the ball?'""A guy in my history class didn't know where the Battle of Yorktown was located, and I knew he wasn't joking.""I work in my school district's print shop. I had to explain to someone that 200 sheets of paper are the same thickness whether or not you print double-sided.""In one of my language classes, this dude at my table sincerely argued that infidelity was when you couldn't have kids and refused to believe that he was actually thinking of infertility, even after being corrected several times by multiple people.""In eighth grade, on a field trip to Washington, DC, a student asked the guide at the Washington Monument how they got all the flags to fly in the same direction.""He thought that the American Civil War was between France and Canada. He's lived in the US his whole life.""In high school, I wore a shirt that said '#1 Dad.' Some girl read it, looked very confused, and said, in all seriousness, 'But you aren't a dad.' I then had to explain that it was a joke." "I was shocked to hear a teacher telling a child that it would be his turn to 'presentate' the next day. To her, the act of making a presentation was to 'presentate.'""I had lost my phone earlier in the day during my first class but got it back after lunch. My friend called me that afternoon, asking if I had found my phone that they were calling.""My school had the older students help out in the library. When I asked one of them for a copy of, she asked me who the author was. When I told her, she rolled her eyes at me like I'd made a bad joke." "While my son and I were visiting a college he was interested in attending, he had a T-shirt with President Lincoln on it holding a boombox, and it said, 'Drop beats not bombs,' implying it's an Abraham Lincoln quote. Another kid saw it and was like, 'Wow! He really said that?' I was speechless. My son responded, 'Sure.'" "In a class at a university, a girl did a presentation on Benjamin Franklin in which she stated, totally seriously and confidently, that he had been president of the United States.""Years ago, my child and I were in Walmart, standing in line at the service desk. They were looking at the missing children posters on the wall and turned to ask me if all those children were missing in Walmart.""My sister once asked a rather dim girl at our high school if she had had a lobotomy. The girl responded, 'No, I can still have kids.'”"At the beginning of my senior year, the career counselor called me in to ask why I was still there. She explained I had 17 extra credits, and the school wouldn’t give me any more. So, I graduated early! My younger brother went to the counselor and demanded my 17 extra credits! He flunked out and got a GED.""I am a high school teacher. I had a student once ask me if a pregnant woman was choking, would the baby come out of her mouth during abdominal thrusts. Before I could stop myself, I asked if she was kidding. She was dead serious....yay our future.""I was in year eight of school and a guy in my year asked my sister, who was in year 12, if she was my twin. I think I heard the prof's teeth grinding.""Back in the day, we had driver's education classes as part of our high school curriculum. The teacher was giving us some general rules of the road, here in the US. He told the class that we drive on the right side of the road.
