4-year-old boy riding in car shot in Chicago
CHICAGO -- A 4-year-old boy was fighting for his life Tuesday night after being shot while riding in a car in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.The toddler was initially taken to Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in critical condition.On Tuesday night, a large gathering of family members and friends amassed outside the county hospital facility. None of them wanted to comment on what happened.The shooting happened just before 4 p.m.
At the scene, multiple 9mm and rifle casings were found, and one innocent bystander's car was broadsided.'Just as I was sitting here having lunch, I heard gunshots ring out,' said a witness, Louis, 'and the next thing I knew, my car gets hit with bullets, and the car running into me.'Louis, who didn't want to share his last name, said his car was struck several times with gunshots. The windows of the white sport-utility vehicle that hit Louis' car were shattered.
