A total of four people were shot on Monday evening, including an innocent ride-share driver who just happened upon the area, police say.
One man is dead and three people are recovering from two shootings in Midtown, and investigators say the second shooting is connected to the first.The first shots were fired on Gray Street near San Jacinto. Houston police said a man took aim at another man who he had a problem with. Another person was unintentionally shot at that scene.
The shooter took off running down Gray toward the bus station. That's when a second shooter came out of the Louisiana Fried Chicken restaurant. He shot and killed the first shooter. A ride-share driver was unintentionally shot at the second scene.Houston police said they are looking for the second shooter who came out of the chicken restaurant. It's not clear how that person may know the other people involved, but police said the first shooter and his victim definitely had a connection.
"He walked up to victim number one and said, 'Do you remember me?' Then he shot that victim," Houston police Cmdr. Caroleta Johnson said."It's just sad, man, just to see what this city's about. You got to be somebody, and now, somebody won't have the opportunity to do that. It just hurts," he said. The wanted shooter is described as a slender, Black man between 25 and 35 years old, who may be connected to a red Hyundai. The remaining injured victims are expected to recover., and at least five homicides have been reported in the Downtown Central Business District nearby.
