Four people were killed in two separate shootings less than two hours apart between Friday night and Saturday morning, according to Chicago police.
Two men were killed, and a woman was critically wounded, when occupants inside an SUV opened fire on another vehicle in the 200 block of South Cicero at around 11:15 p.m. Friday. Police said a man in his 20s and a 29-year-old woman were driving together when they were both shot. The man later died, while the woman was hospitalized with gunshot wounds to her head, back and left arm. A 36-year-old man was also caught in the crossfire, according to police, and died after being shot in the back.
Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, police responding to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of West 87th Street discovered two men on the ground with gunshot wounds. One man had been shot in the head and police said they found a handgun lying next to him. A second man had two gunshot wounds to the chest. Both were hospitalized, but later died of their wounds.
Two people were also wounded in a shooting Saturday afternoon in the 600 block of East 79th Street. An 18-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were standing inside a business just before 12:30 p.m. when someone entered and shot both of them, striking the man in the buttocks and the woman in the back.
