Roque made the remarks a day after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the government had extended the deadline for the distribution of the first tranche of the COVID-19 emergency subsidy program.
The local government units were told to immediately liquidate the first tranche of the cash aid so that the DSWD can prepare the release of the second tranche of the emergency subsidy. Out of 18 million low-income families, the DSWD reported having dispensed aid to 9.5 million families as of April 29.
