The U.S. Marshals Task Force was serving a fugitive warrant in Charlotte when someone began firing at them.
Four law enforcement officers serving a warrant for a felon wanted for possessing a firearm were killed and four other officers were wounded Monday in a shootout at a Charlotte, North Carolina, home, police said.
A suspect was found dead in the front yard and two other people were found in the home after a three-hour standoff and are being questioned, Jennings said. Authorities said two shooters were involved in the attack. Multiple victims were taken to hospitals and the gunfire continued at the scene for several minutes. A SWAT team was in the neighborhood on the east side of the city, police said.
Many roads in the area were closed so ambulances could get to hospitals faster. Police urged people to stay away from the neighborhood and asked residents to remain inside their homes.
