At least four people were killed and eight others were injured Monday during a shooting at a bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, according to authorities. The shooter died at the scene.

One of those with serious injuries was a responding officer, who is currently in surgery at a nearby hospital. Another officer was also injured in the shooting.
Deputy Chief Humphrey said it wasn’t clear if the shooting suspect was a current or former employee of the bank. “This is awful,” Gov. Andy Beshear, a Democrat, said at a press conference. “I have a very close friend that didn’t make it today, and I have another close friend that didn’t either.”Police said that the shooting at the Old National Bank was reported at about 8:30 a.m. Officers arrived on the scene in three minutes and came across the suspect “almost immediately” as gunshots were still being fired.
Police traded gunfire with the suspect, though it’s unclear whether the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot or from police.
