A 17-year-old boy was among at least four people killed and 17 others — including an 11-year-old girl — were wounded in citywide shootings since Friday, 5 p.m.
The teen was standing in the driveway of a home in the 9500 block of South Sangamon Street about 2:20 a.m. Saturday morning when he was struck in the chest by gunfire, Chicago police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said. He was identified as Lee Carter Jr. by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
A man was shot and killed in a drive-by — the second fatal shooting on the same block in two months — in West Garfield Park on the West Side. The man, 40, was standing outside in the 300 block of South Kilbourn Avenue about 3:25 a.m. Sunday morning when he was shot in the chest by someone traveling in a red car, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
