Capt. Anthony Espino, who is a member of the Internal Affairs Bureau, claims in court papers Capt. Shawn Lee engaged “in a pattern of retaliatory conduct and reprisals” after Espino investigated Lee for alleged illegal practices and policies.
after he cooperated with an Internal Affairs investigation. That suit is pending in New Jersey Superior Court.
Apparently angered by the recommendations, Lee recruited Palisades Park Councilman Michael Vietri to involve himself in the daily operations of the police department, even though the politician had no background as a law enforcement officer. Espino claims his work hours were then closely monitored, a television set was removed from his office, and he was placed on a rotating schedule, which is considered “degrading and punitive,” the suit states.
