The shooting happened just after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of Pearson Avenue S.W.

Birmingham police investigate a homicide in the 1700 block of Pearson Avenue SW on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024. One other person was injured in the shooting.Authorities have released the name of a 38-year-old who was killed in a shooting that also left another man injured in southwest Birmingham.Police received a call of a person shot and arrived to find a man who had sustained a non-life-threatening wound, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald said one person was detained for questioning, and it appeared everyone involved in the shooting knew each other.
