A 32-year-old woman has been arrested after her 4-month-old son was found critically injured and later died.
Police with Utah County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the home at 3:12 a.m. Tuesday in Eagle Mountain to a report of a 4-month-old bleeding from his ear and having a swollen head.
Paramedics began treating the child before an AirLife helicopter took the baby to Primary Children's in Lehi. They initially planned to take him to Primary Children's in Salt Lake City, but his conditioned was worsening during the helicopter ride.Raona Dorothy Mora was arrested and held without bail, police said. They said the baby's injuries were inconsistent with what Mora described.
A probable cause statement said Mora claimed she was sleeping on the bed while holding the baby and had fallen on top of him. The statement said doctors told police the injuries on the boy could not have been caused by what Mora told police. Police reported that the baby had multiple skull fractures, which doctors told police was "unsurvivable."Mora is being charged with reckless child abuse homicide, a third degree felony.
