The 317 Project tells stories of life in all of Indianapolis’ vibrant neighborhoods – 317 words at a timeThey probably wouldn't've crossed paths in the hallways of Ben Davis High School, where David, 19, attended and 17-year-old Carranza is a senior, because they had different schedules.But now, sitting overlooking the White River, David and Carranza are in love — having talked for a few months, and officially dated for one.“He thought I was catfishing,” Carranza said. “I don’t know how.

“He’ll have to translate it to me even though it is the same Spanish, kind of, it's just different,” she said.Carranza’s thinking about college next year, studying to become a science teacher. They both dream of going to Colorado.The two started coming to the White River recently, to chill out and decompress. It's not mountains, but the changing foliage is a sight on its own.

“Even when it's quiet, we still enjoy that time,” Carranza said. “Because we know that we’re, I guess, here."
